Is Everything a Remix?

I do not think everything is a remix. In the video some of the things we saw were radixes or used an idea but I also think a lot of the so called remixes from the video were stretches. Yes, movies do have similar looking scenes, but I would not call it a remake. The amount of movies that exists is so high that there are undoubtably going to be very similar scenes. It would be nearly impossible that eventually a fight scene doesn't have similarities, there are thousands of different ways to act a fight scene, but eventually they are going to imitate each other, and that does not make it a remix. Also, just because a certain character type is used does not make it a remix wither. Of course there are going to be many vampire movies, because vampires are a commonly known and interesting topic. That doesn't mean each movie based on vampires is a remix of an earlier one.

When it comes to music, there is a huge difference between a remix and using a similar beat. If the song is from a completely different genre and you would have to really search to find the beat and trace it back to its original song, then that is not what I would consider a remix. I would consider a remix if the beat was the for a song of the same genre and only the lyrics were changed. Also I would consider a song a remix if they used the exact same lyrics but was not from the same genre. If the beat is covered by other beats and added or altered from the original and the lyrics are original in my opinion that is not a remix.

With a planet as big as our, the number of idea out there is literally countless. Of course ideas are going to be the same, and in media you are going to see and hear similar things. However, the video was making some stretches with what they were calling remixes because a similar idea or theme does not always have to be a purposely redone version of something else.
